I got picked to watch Darekiss in LA tonight and here's what i thought about it
BTW DONT READ IF YOU DONT WANNA BE SPOILEDI don't know how to start umm, okay lets talk about the changes, like Hans said before they changed the fact that theyre not the ones driving. They also changed Naomi's mom they made her dead instead of divorced
okay next the acting, Both Maki and Kenichi were great as usual but Tegoshi (this is completely unbiased) was really great in here, before I watched this I've read good reviews in Japan about Tegoshi, that they werent expecting he'd be that good, I have to say he was really good in this, He played Will really well, I didnt see Tegoshi I really saw Will. What I like is that they showed Mirai's feelings in this which we never read in the book, so you cant help but say awww and they didnt make Mirai annoying instead they made him a best friend who was always there for Naomi.
Cinematography, It was super beautiful, Our theater was really small 70 seater, and the movie was played on blueray so the film was showed more on sharpness and quality is really good, It felt like i wasnt watching at a moviehouse or something like I was watching at home with my HD TV. What I really loved in the movie was the photographs. Just like how you see on the trailer where you see photographs around Maki? That was the main part of the movie, since Naomi and Mirai were into yearbook and photography everytime they take a picture the picture flashes behind them and then fades away, and this goes on and on in the entire movie and it was beautifully made, I think this is first time a movie had ever done this.
what more? ah Language, the whole movie is 70% japanese, I always thought it has more english because i remember reading it, anyways, Maki's english was understandable, Tegoshi's ugh no sorry only understand 20% of it LMAO it was engrish yes, i remember this one line Mirai said "Ohh I'm pissed off" LMAO everytime tego speaks in english the fangirls laugh, Kenichi didnt speak in english his lines are all japanese.
Kissing scenes, Maki had soo many kissings scenes Kenichi and her had the most theres this scene before Yuji leaves for LA, they kept kissing the whole time, Tegoshi had one kissing scene only and yes thats the one with Maki, Anton had lots too.
The movie was really american-like,like when you watch it you know its american production its just you see Japanese actors, just like the kissing scenes, its more passionate than the normal one.
I think Tegoshi had more scenes than Kenichi i think they skip some scenes of Yuji im not so sure
I just discovered Kylee plays Winnie here LOL she was a nerd here she had braces, I have to say I was jealous of her LOL
if you ask me whats better movie or book, ummm I'd say ack i cant pick but I have to say Movie, this movie was really great, I cant put into words how happy I am right now That I had watch this movie, really. I honestly hate movie adaptation because when I love the book and then I watch the movie It always disappoints me, ALWAYS ALWAYS but with darekiss that didnt happened even though I know whats gonna happen next It didnt seem so predictable, It didnt even made me feel bored at all, I was glued to the screen the whole time. I think one of the things we should be thankful of Gabrielle zevin did the screenplay for this so she really put in the important parts of the story here without changing anything. The way you imagine it in the book, Its the exact same thing in the movie.
okay what more? sorry my brain i think its too overwhelmed, tell me if I missed out anything, ask me anything about the movie...
btw I saw Emma Roberts (actually wasnt quite sure) but she was there too in the screening.
EDIT.// btw there was this one part where tego was speaking english, but it had subtitles at the bottom LMAO (i think)
I wanna watch the movie again T_T
edit.//2
Okay Hans just said its not Emma Roberts LMAO
